Our Projects

A bit of history and some of our projects

The original Aptos branch library was founded in 1944 on Trout Gulch Road.

In October 1964 the library moved to a more spacious location at the Rancho del Mar shopping center.
By 1970, the Aptos branch was the fastest growing branch in the library system, and it had outgrown its space at the shopping center.

The current site was chosen in July of 1972.

The Aptos branch was dedicated on Saturday, June 28, 1975.
The Aptos branch closed on Saturday, June 12, 2021 to make way for the new Aptos Library.

The new Aptos Branch Library opened on February 5, 2024.

Our Community Reads
A series of events revolving around the central themes of a current piece of literature. We aspire to promote fun and learning through talks, art shows, music, films and more.
