THE 2020 SEASON
OF

OUR COMMUNITY READS

from the Friends of the Aptos Library!

Five books have been selected as candidates
for a program that is designed to bring members
of our community together around one book.

Soon, one book will be revealed as
the “chosen” book.
We are encouraging all readers to get involved!

“The best, the most comprehensive and compellingly readable book about the great fault, America's 800-mile long seismic danger zone, that will one day affect all of our lives.”
Picture
"A fascinating exploration of America's food innovators, that gives us hopeful alternatives to the industrial food system described in works like Michael Pollan's bestselling Omnivore's Dilemma.”

Picture
“A tale that reminds us that there are forces at work out there well beyond our control, and maybe even well beyond our understanding.”

Picture
“A double tale of voyage and exile that moves between contemporary war-torn Syria and the caravansaries and khans of its lost past.”

Picture
“A timely, informative book that offers a truthful account of the immigrant and exile experiences in the Chinese-American context.”

Click on each book cover for more information.

In early Spring 2020 the selected book, and themes in the book, will be highlighted in a series of special events:  Films • Art Exhibits • Discussion Groups • Trivia Night • Guest Speakers • Happy Hour • Story Times •  and more.
These events will create a shared experience that will increase appreciation for our community libraries and for our local bookstores; foster pride in the varied experiences that our area offers; and the enrichment –– culturally, intellectually, and emotionally –– that comes from the joy of reading!
